Grocery shopping here can be quite an adventure and have many faces. I may do a few installments on this topic.
We have four small shops that sell imported items on our street. I take my rolling grocery bag to shop there. Kenney likes to help.
There are outdoor local markets:
| This vegetable stand sets up outside our apartment every day |
| A meat station outside our apartment |
| Another shop butchering a few blocks away - doesn't seem very clean... |
Meat at more local shops is often on a bed of ice in the middle of the aisle. This is at Walmart.
| chicken feet |
| more chicken - hope no one sneezes on it... |
| sausages |
| dried fish and shrimp |
In addition to regular cart there are these handy drag hand baskets:
And interesting items...
| Apple vinegar drink. Recognize the Walmart brand?! I tried some and its basically slightly diluted apple cider vinegar. There's also a carbonated soda version... |

By contrast here's a grocery store in Hong Kong...
While Hong Kong is definitely better, we can find a number of items in Shenzhen.
